Bella Foundation

Pet Blessing for the Bella Foundation.

Few months ago, I was asked by the Bella Foundation Oklahoma City Chapter to do a Pet Blessing. I was so honored and excited. While sharing this with my friends, I was told animals do not have souls so why even pray and bless them. Is it biblical? Yes, according to the Lord Jesus Christ, even the lowliest sparrow is not forgotten before God. (Luke 12:6). If God cares for every living thing that He has created, would it not be our responsibility to take care of them as well? Proverbs 12:10 Whoever is righteous has regard for the life of his beast, but the mercy of the wicked is cruel. So having the honor to perform a Pet Blessing, this is what I prayed:

Dear God
We thank you for creating mans best friend. We give thanks for their ability to love, for their wisdom, their innocence, and their playfulness. We thank you for their companionship and friendship especially for those lonely hours we may have experienced.

I pray that you raise the awareness of animal abuse throughout Oklahoma and we thank you for the Bella foundation for reaching out to those animals during their hard times. I pray for the ones that do not have a home that they find a home in the days to come.

Today as we are about to start the walk I pray that you keep our animals and owners from harms way. In the name of the Father Son and Holy Spirit I bless these animals and through them let your love be shown

In Jesus name I pray. Amen.

I agree with 積.It's much better if we can make anmail cruelty to become a "taboo", much like bullying or even murder. Raising the penalty is a resort to reflect that this is unacceptable rather than as a deterrant - as we discussed earlier those who do it do not feel they have the danger of being caught....Connie
